January 10th, 2012NH Wedding Photography: Ode to 2011
December 14th, 2011Well, it’s that time of year when I can sit back and reflect on all the images we created with our amazing Clients over this past year. We once again found ourselves shooting at some of our favorite Venues, such as The Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. We spent Columbus day weekend with our Clients Cynthia & Ahmed for our last wedding of the year at The Hotel. It was a whooping 80 Degrees on this first weekend in October. Here’s a few of our favorites from that weekend.
Another fun wedding for us the beginning of October was the wedding of Stephanie & Chris. Stephanie & Chris live out in Las Vegas, but they met while in College in NH. They got married on a rainy day at St. Anslems college in NH. I was luckily enough to meet Stephanie & Chris at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas while I was attending WPPI, the largest photographic conference in the world. The Paster at this church was extremely accommodating, and let us set up some fun lights and play around in the church so we could get some images like this:
This shot below was so much fun. This Couple was alone on the dance floor; I saw the mirror on the wall and knew it would be cool if I could use it uniquely somehow…..this is what I came up with. This was achieved with the lighting set-up I used, not photoshop.
On the most popular wedding date of the year, 9-10-11, we shot Bethany & Mike’s wedding at Church Landing in Meredith, NH. This wedding took on a special significance for us, as we were one of the first Couple’s married at this Venue back when it opened in 2004. As a Meredith native, I know the property very well. I also knew of some near-by private property that would be the perfect location for Bethany & Mike’s First Look. They were “Up for anything” so we made it happen! Seth snuck Mike off to the farm and I arrived shortly there-after with Bethany.
LOVE the color of this barn…and they way Mike & Beth are looking at each other
Seth caught this one through the birch trees….love it.
Then we headed down to the Meredith docks and made use of the beautiful blue hues happening all over the place. These shots never would have been possible if it were not for the early 8AM hour, as this is a historically crowded area. Yay to Mike & Beth for getting up early!
We headed over to the property to finish out or pre-wedding portrait session.
I’m not usually a huge gazeebo fan, but look at the diamond sparkling water: yum!
More from this Church Landing wedding & many more when I come back!
I’ll be back to continue on with the best of 2011. For some reason I am writing this in reverse: from our last wedding to our first. More soon!

Mount Washington Hotel: Cynthia and Ahmed: 2011 Swan Song
November 14th, 2011It was Columbus day weekend in the White Mountains, peak foliage season in NH’s north country.
So we packed our boots, gators, sweaters, fleece, hats, and mittens. We were prepared to shoot Cynthia & Ahmed’s wedding on Saturday, their day-after BrideScapes® Session Sunday, and then embark on our annual Foliage Hike Monday. As it turned out, on our own anniversary weekend, it was a record-breaking 81 degrees at The Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. It was even a tad humid and hazy, which is rare for this area of northern NH.
I had Skyped with Cynthia and Ahmed the beginning of the week and it was clear right away that their images were THE most important thing to them in the grand scheme of their wedding. They had a lot of ideas, and even more excitement about how much fun we were all going to have capturing all they had planned. Of course, this was exciting for us because we absolutely love to collaborate with our Clients creatively. Being a designer at Nicole Miller in Manhattan, you can imagine that Cynthia had all of the details down.
Did I mention she loves shoes? Had some pretty serious–and more importantly, meaningful–bling? A beautifully designed custom monogram, custom Nicole Miller gown, and some beuatiful furs and accessories? There was a lot of eye candy, but it did not overshadow Ahmed’s intense pride of his new Bride, or how incredibly stunning she looked.
I also just want to mention quickly that Cynthia spent about 5 minutes putting on make-up. 5 MINUTES to look like this.
While Cynthia was getting ready, Seth spent some time with Ahmed getting ready and then they roamed around the property. Just endless photographic opportunities at this gorgeous venue. I am in LOVE with these portraits Seth captured. This is what happens when you are not in a rush. Cynthia and Ahmed allowed plenty of time throughout their day for images, and in my opinion, it shows. While we are used to working quickly, it was a breath of fresh air to not once have to think about time the entire day. It helped that Cynthia and Ahmed had a 17 person, family-only wedding.
Cynthia and Ahmed opted for a First Look so they could spend the maximum amount of time with their family.
Everyone took a horse-drawn carriage down to the Bretton Arms Inn for the intimate ceremony, Officiated by Father Larry. Father Larry was awesome! I HIGHLY recommend his services! He planned just a beautiful and touching, very personalized service for Cynthia & Ahmed.
After the Ceremony, we headed outside to capture the explosive sunset that was going on.
The sunset went on and on, but it did eventually get dark. Which was awesome.
We headed back down to the Inn for dinner; as we were walking inside I thought this would be a cool shot.
The intimate room was beautifully decorated with details arranged by Cynthia.
….and a few shots from our Day-After BrideScapes®:
Thank You Cynthia & Ahmed. What a special wedding you had: thanks for allowing us to capture it.
