NH Engagement Session (with a dog!): {Mile Away Wedding, Milford, NH}

May 12th, 2012

This was a really special engagement session. After discovering Cengiz’s destination engagement sessions and more importantly his overall approach to every Engagement session, Seth & I discussed how we, like many Couples, often think of the engagement session as a simple add-on to wedding day photography.

We decided to stop doing that.

For this session, we spoke with the Couple about fashion and knew they wanted to include their dog. So in the days leading up to the session we carefully plotted our locations, timing, lighting, and added a few props specific to this couple that we though would be fun.

One thing that we DO NOT like to do is re-use ideas or locations. I really don’t like to repeat myself, which is why I am sensitive to the use of props. Nothing drives me crazier than seeing a very recognizable object in multiple sessions with different people.

So this doggie basket now belongs to our Clients, and this bench is in our Foyer. ;) It was theirs & theirs alone for this shoot. And while we don’t own the walking path or alley which both have EPIC lighting, we are fortunate to live in an area that allows for extensive shooting locations – inside & out – within a very short distance of our studio.

What a fun Sunday session!

NH Day-After Session: BrideScapes® {Mt. View Grand Wedding} Nichole & Mike

May 8th, 2012

Nichole and Mike are the type of Couple who are truly always up for anything….and we just love that about them! It was awesome to get to photograph them again. Congrats Nichole & Mike!

Leah & Matt: NH Engagement Session {Mt.Washington Hotel Wedding}

May 6th, 2012

Leah & Matt are getting married at The Mt. Washington Hotel next August. We were psyched they decide to have an engagement session so they would have some personalized images for their Save-the-Dates. We headed to some private property in Amherst, NH near the studio and then to downtown Nashua. We forced them to have a cocktail at the end of the session for some fun street shots. :)

Thanks and Congrats to Leah & Matt! We’re really looking forward to your Mt. Washington Hotel wedding!

Epiphany School Gala Boston: Design by Rafanelli Events

April 26th, 2012

Friday, April 13th we headed down to The Weston Copley in Boston to cover The Epiphany School’s annual fundraising gala. Epiphany is a private, tuition-free (for students) school dedicated to serving Boston’s most vulnerable youth. The Event was designed & coordinated by Boston’s own Rafanelli Events.

Seth & I were extremely impressed with the teachers, staff, and students that make up the community of this school. With a 12-hour day intensive schedule, it takes a HUGE commitment from all to find success in the program. It was an inspiring night. To learn more about Epiphany and how you can make a difference and support a child’s education, CLICK HERE.

A big THANK YOU to Lorena for inviting us to cover the Gala. :)

Cape Cod Sunset Engagement Session

April 17th, 2012

We headed out to Sandwich MA on the Cape Saturday to meet up with Jen & Eric. Jen picked a great beach location for their E-Session. We are excited to shoot their wedding at The Pelham House in June!

Just for Fun

April 1st, 2012

I’ve been all business lately. Work, work, work! I do work hard “behind the scenes” so to speak when I’m not shooting. I’m running a business, and although it revolves around my artistic passion, it is my work and therefore a business. There’s A LOT of office work that comes with this job!

I’ve been feeling kind of tied down in the office lately and knew I needed to get out and shoot creatively for MYSELF, like Robert Evans told me to ;)

So this past Friday I shot in-studio; something I’m not exactly “known” for. But I will admit I got really into it! I hate props, so I always feel kind of restrained within a studio setting. I don’t like to repeat myself either, so shooting the same scenario more than once is a real downer for me.

Thankfully, we had an excellent subject, who provided us with a myriad of looks.. I enjoyed myself, and had fun shooting – for myself. :)

I should mention this post was inspired by Sue Bryce. Sue is an Australian portrait photographer I recently discovered who calls herself a glamour photographer; and she doesn’t shoot bums.

Thanks to Sue for the inspiration, our Associate Alan up in Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee for the incredible lighting set-up and studio space, Sara our subject, Donna Cortnoir of Custom for You for the incredible transformation with hair & make-up (and her enthusiasm), and Robin Holland of Simple Bouquets for the flowers she gave me on Thursday night with no lead time.

This is by far the “raciest” shoot I’ve ever shared but I am really happy with the results. Enjoy!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

March 17th, 2012

“I believe in myself, believe in everything that’s positive, so I don’t let any negative energy come into my life to the best of my ability — that’s the best way to carry on. There are no limitations, no rules. If you believe it, you can do it. You can do anything . . . Nothing is impossible.” —-Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance.
